DAY 1: Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

  • Elevation: 7,742 ft to 9,498 ft

  • Distance: 7 km/4 miles

  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

  • Habitat: Rain Forest

We commence at Lemosho Gate, trekking through the captivating rainforest. This initial leg introduces you to the wonders of Kilimanjaro. Our first night is spent at Mti Mkubwa Camp.


DAY 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 11

  • Elevation: 9,498 ft to 11,499 ft

  • Distance: 17 km/10.6 miles

  • Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

  • Habitat: Heath

Venturing further, we transition into the moorland zone, relishing the breathtaking Shira Plateau. The hike culminates at Shira 1 Camp.


DAY 3: Shira 11 to Barranco Camp

  • Elevation: 11,499 ft to 12,959 ft

  • Distance: 10 km/6 miles

  • Hiking Time: 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Today’s trek includes navigating the rocky Lava Tower and descending into the picturesque Barranco Valley. The Barranco Camp, situated beneath the imposing Barranco Wall, awaits.


DAY 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

  • Elevation: 12,959 ft to 15,331 ft

  • Distance: 10 km/6.2 miles

  • Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

We proceed towards the Barafu Camp, our high-altitude base camp. This vantage point offers mesmerizing views of the summit. Rest and prepare for the final push.


DAY 5: Barafu Summit to Mweka Camp

  • Elevation (Barafu to Uhuru Peak): 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft

  • Elevation (Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp): 19,341 ft to 10,065 ft

  • Distance: 5 km/3 miles ascent, 12 km/7 miles descent

  • Hiking Time (Summit): 6-8 hours

  • Hiking Time (Descent): 4-6 hours

  • Habitat: Arctic, Rain Forest

In the early hours, we embark on the challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Witness an awe-inspiring sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. After celebrating our achievement, we descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

DAY 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

  • Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft

  • Distance: 10 km/6 miles

  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

  • Habitat: Rain Forest

Our final descent takes us through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Here, you receive your summit certificates. A vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your accommodation in Moshi.
