ITINERARY

DAY 1: LONDOROSSI GATE TO MTI MKUBWA CAMP

  • Starting Point: Londorossi Gate (2,100 meters)

  • Ending Point: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,785 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 4-5 hours

  • Habitat: Montane Forest

Begin your adventure at Londorossi Gate, where you'll undergo registration. The trek starts through lush montane forest, where you might have the chance to spot some wildlife. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp for your first night on the mountain.

 

DAY 2: MTI MKUBWA CAMP TO SHIRA I CAMP

  • Starting Point: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,785 meters)

  • Ending Point: Shira I Camp (3,504 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Moorland

Leave Mti Mkubwa Camp and head towards the Moorland. As you ascend, you'll start to experience the unique flora and fauna of the region. Arrive at Shira I Camp for a well-deserved rest.

 

DAY 3: SHIRA I TO MOIR HUT

  • Starting Point: Shira I Camp (3,504 meters)

  • Ending Point: Moir Hut (4,161 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Moorland

Today's trek leads you further into the Moorland zone. The path takes you through varying landscapes, offering stunning views. Reach Moir Hut for your overnight stay.

 

DAY 4: MOIR HUT TO BUFFALO CAMP

  • Starting Point: Moir Camp (4,155 meters)

  • Ending Point: Buffalo Camp (4,033 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Leave Moir Hut behind and trek towards Buffalo Camp. This leg of the journey provides spectacular panoramic views of the mountain. Arrive at Buffalo Camp, set in the Alpine Desert, for your overnight stay.

 

DAY 5: BUFFALO CAMP TO RONGAI 3RD CAVE

  • Starting Point: Buffalo Camp (4,033 meters)

  • Ending Point: Rongai 3rd Cave (3,936 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Continue your adventure through the Alpine Desert as you make your way to Rongai 3rd Cave. This stretch offers a unique perspective of the mountain's diverse ecosystems.

 

DAY 6: RONGAI 3RD CAVE TO SCHOOL HUT

  • Starting Point: Rongai 3rd Cave (3,936 meters)

  • Ending Point: School Hut (4,717 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-7 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

The trail ascends further into the Alpine Desert zone. Reach School Hut, where you'll prepare for your summit attempt.

 

DAY 7: SCHOOL HUT TO SUMMIT TO MILLENIUM CAMP

  • Summit Elevation: 5,895 meters

  • Ending Point: Millenium Camp (3,827 meters)

  • Summit Hiking Time: Approx. 7-8 hours

  • Descent Hiking Time: Approx. 4-6 hours

  • Habitat: Arctic, Moorland

Start your summit bid in the early hours, aiming for Uhuru Peak. Witness a breathtaking sunrise (weather permitting) from the highest point on Kilimanjaro. Descend to Millennium Camp for your final night on the mountain.

 

DAY 8: MILLENIUM CAMP TO MWEKA GATE TO MOSHI

  • Starting Point: Millennium Camp (3,827 meters)

  • Ending Point: Mweka Gate (1,633 meters)

  • Hiking Time: Approx. 5-6 hours

  • Habitat: Rain Forest

Embark on your final descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect your summit certificates, signifying your accomplishment, before returning to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
